The Strobe Effect: Not Only Clubs Like It.

Have you ever wanted mad multi-exposure, strobe-like, shots? well, here you go!

First of all, you need to be a fun person and have a little crowd that likes to party. Furthermore you need a nice lomocam loaded with some cheap film and.. of course, a cool strobe (we used some badass 1500W strobe, but every strobe will do it!)

If you got the stuff you need, go and get a room, that fetches all of you and let’s you dance, play some sound everyone of you likes and just dance. after the warm-up, someone starts the strobe. It should be very bright and just work on the highest speed possible. Then one of you gets the lomo and shoots random partypics with a normal shutter and just go on. You do not need to multi expose, the pictures tend to overexpose.
if the people move like mad, you get very unpredictable shots, if they just dance a bit the shots turn out very cool anyways.

Please notice! do not shoot into the strobe itself. you’ll get a white frame. shoot people with the strobe in your back. and you will probably have to darken the pictures a lot. by the way, the color of your shots can depend of the furniture etc.
dont worry, if you do not own a strobe. they go away very cheap on ebay, rock the hell out of every party and make every room look like a damn hot club. So do not wait to get one. And if you spend all your cash on films and cams, someone you know owns a strobe anyways. trust me :)

Well, that’s exactly the thought I had which led to giving this Tipster a go. I wanted to shoot Lomo’Instant photos which felt a bit “messier” than what I’m usually used to and to use a technique which would open up new possibilities with the kinds of images I could create with my favorite instant camera. My Lomo’Instant Quick Tips

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. I love how the camera naturally encourages you to experiment with its different features, whether it’s through flashing your multiple exposures with different colors or trying different creative techniques after your shots has been ejected. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!
