Think fast: Your house is burning down and you´ve got only time to rescue one film and one camera, or which camera and film would you like to accompany you if stranded on an island?
For myself, these questions don´t torture me anymore. As a Lomographer the questions concerning the camera is answerd fast and by the name of what I´m doing: It has to be the Lomo LC-A, it´s not called Lomography by coincidence.
To answer the question which film to rescue is by far harder to decide. But which kind of photos come in mind that first made Lomography interesting? For myself it were the colourful, super-saturated pictures that were made with a technique called cross-processing.
Cross-processing or xpro for myself is one of the essence of Lomgraphy and one of the most perfect films for xpro is the Kodak Elitechrome EB. There isn´t that much effect in it that the colours are shifted completely, but there is that typical “larger than life” effect I love so much about cross-processing.
It´s always a surprise how the pictures turn out, but never have been a bad surprise. What’s left is the question what the “EB” stands for – “Extra Bold” would be my premier guess! As long as there is the Kodak Elitechrome EB it will always be one of my xpro favorites!
