Simplified Submissions in Magazine Entries!

Listen up, dear Magazine writers! Laying out your own magazine submissions will be waaaay easier with our new features! Read on!

Yes, you read that right! The LomoStaff elves are working hard at developing tools to make the community’s lives easier when it comes to submitting your Magazine entries! We want everyone in the community to have a go in sharing their reviews, locations and tips. We know you have something you want to share! So don’t be shy – for your convenience and pleasure, Magazine entries are now easier!

What new feature do we have that you’ll benefit from, you ask? You can now drag and drop your photos to arrange them in the post to your liking. Not only that but you can now also decide which order your photos will appear in a gallery and you also get to select your cover photo for your submission! This way, you get to entice the other readers in the Community to come check out your article! We have also created a notification system to let the users know the status of their contributions (this will come very soon!). Now, you will no longer have to wait and wonder if your contributions will get published! There’s no other feeling than seeing your article up in our Magazine for everyone to read!

Browse and Upload

Uploading is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Just click on the Browse and Upload button under the Assets section on the right.
  2. Select which photo you would like to upload.
  3. Wait for the upload to be 100%. You will see that it is uploaded under the Assets area.

Drag and Drop (Order your photos)

Drag and Drop can be used for arranging the order of your photos – You can drag and drop your photos in the Assets area to arrange your photos to the order you want. You will also notice that the Assets text (the one you should Copy/Paste to your code) changes as you drag and drop the photos. When you’re satisfied with the arrangement, just copy the Assets code into the body of your text.

Drag and Drop (Cover Photo)

You can drag and drop your photo from the Assets area to the “Preview Asset” field. This will be your cover photo!

See? Told you it was easy peasy! Still a bit confused? Here’s a video to help you:

Looks great! Will the old way of formatting the photos still be available (the [Photo:] and PhotosGallery:]) so we can link directly to the photos in our homes?

@nural: if that's the case, we'll select the photo we deem best for your article
@rater,stouf: will check with our programming team if this is still possible. as far as I know, video embedding from youtube and vimeo will work. I'm not too sure with other formats (quicktime, etc.)
@everyone: we are also testing a user notification system so you would know that we received your entry. we cannot give you dates on when your posts will be published but we can send confirmation mails with details if something's missing (photo, text too short, etc.)

  10. kazarareta
    kazarareta ·

@nural: or if we're confused with an article we will be sending notifications

@rater: just received confirmation from our backend team - if you fancy still formatting it via the old [Photo:] hashtags it will still work. I'm not sure if this will be disabled in the future, so would be best to learn about this new easier process ;)
@everyone: if you would have any comments please do not hesitate to e-mail

If the old [Photo:] hashtag will be disabled in the future, does it mean that we'll need again to upload all pictures for an entry even if we have these pics already on our home? because I liked the fact that I didn't need to upload again the same pics and only pick up their number in my albums.... or is there a way to transform the number of a shot in our album in an asset for the entry??
