Amsterdam-based artist Hinke Schreuders' series is unmistakably analogue, as she combines vintage images with hand embroidery. Have a look after the jump!
Taking off from another person’s work would always be a tricky affair, yet *Hinke Schreuders* was able to pull this off quite nicely in the series, “Works on Paper.” By stitching different colored-thread (and beads, on some) onto vintage fashion photographs and illustrations printed on paper and linen, Schreuders aimed to “subtly confuse notions of feminine vulnerability and reinforce the position of embroidery as an artistic medium,” as quoted in a feature on Colossal. She stitches simple lines, circles, and other shapes around and directly onto the subjects in the pictures, rendering them almost unseen yet the resulting work is undoubtedly fascinating.
