Awesome Albums: Hats & Masks by clownshoes

2

Don't let the clean look of these photos deceive you. Take a closer look and get a taste of its bizarre shapes and forms!

Using a Nikon F3 and Arista Premium 400, clownshoes created a completely puzzling set of minimalist photographs of various hats and masks. Aptly called Hats & Masks, this album is indeed an eye candy for everyone who has a penchant for clean and plain composition.

The masks have uncanny details and dark colors that provided an excellent dimension and contrast to the plain white background he used. In all honesty, the masks gave me the creeps, but it is exactly their weird and eerie looks that made them amusing subjects. Meanwhile, the hats look flattened and pressed that they resembled more like ink drawings than actual black and white photographs.

Here are some of my favorites from this album:

The Awesome Albums series is exactly what it says on the tin — it’s a love letter of sorts from the Editors addressed to user-uploaded albums that had caught their eye and had inadvertently fallen in love with. Please understand though, they’re really just here to express their love and nothing more.

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.
