My Love of the Silhouette

33

My love of the silhouette grew with one of my pictures during my virgin roll of LOMO LC-A, shooting on my birthday itself, on my pretty sister's wedding day. She is…pretty in pink. :)

The picture won a rumble during some older days at Lomography Asia , during the time where the Mr.Pink was launched. And the price of the rumble is the hot sexy Diana Mr. Pink! Oh, God! I’m jumping in joy! Then, I started to shoot whatever, whenever while facing the sunlight, or behind it. My love of Lomo grew from my LOMO LC-A roll number one. I’m now on my 50th roll. There are quite a numbers of dark silhouette pictures in my LCA library, and that’s one of the reason why, I’m in love with my LC-A.

I don’t understand why these kind of silhouette pictures makes a picture extraordinary to me. Is it because it looks dark/black and feel slightly mysterious? Or the outline of the object makes it looks ‘sexier’? I don’t know! I just fall in love with the silhouette!

Do you in love with silhouette, too?

Fresh from the Lab: One Roll of Film and the Lubitel 166U

Adi, Ekeu, and I did a lomowalk around downtown Bandung last Saturday, the beginning of November. We planned to use our Lubitel cameras with only one roll of film each. We were inspired by the One Roll of Film Project by four Tokyo-based photographers with their Hasselblad cameras. This is about the one roll of film I shot with the Lubitel 166U, which made me love shooting in medium format even more.

Testing a Yashica TLR Camera After 55 Years in Storage

Though I am not a professional, photography is in my genes. My father was a photographer and technician in the Air Force and accumulated a number of cameras during his life. This is a story about one of those cameras, a Yashica 635 TLR. I brought the camera—after being in storage for about 55 years—back to life with a roll of Portra 160 during the golden hour at Bellevue Botanical Gardens in Washington.
