My boyfriend Scott and I took our cameras on a road trip to the beautiful Coronado Beach in San Diego, California at the very end of May to catch beach combers, surfers, and beautiful sunsets on glorious film.
I’m pretty sure that living in the desert for six years has given me a better appreciation for the beach, and I absolutely love it any time I can dip my toes in the water! At the end of May, my boyfriend and I hopped in our car in search of adventure and drove from Phoenix, Arizona to San Diego, California.
One of the great summer hot spots of San Diego is the famous Coronado Beach. The first thing you’ll notice about it are the many people on bicycles in town and all of the surfers! Sometimes you’ll see surfers riding their bicycles to the beach, surfboard tucked under their arms and in their wet suits, ready to go! I could spend an entire day just taking pictures of them and surf culture.
It was our first time putting our feet in the Pacific Ocean, and the views were amazing. Aside from the surfers, there is the bustle of activity on the beach to capture on film – from babies and beach combers, to the shoreline and sunsets. The sunsets are so incredible, they look good even in black and white!
There is a really cool vibe in California that you just don’t seem to get anywhere else. The palm trees, the hills, the mountains, the beaches, and the people make up for a great summer destination, one that sometimes transports you back in time. I recommend a visit, and I definitely plan to go back again soon!
