LC-A+ Goes To: Berlin

2

In April 2013 I visited Berlin with my LC-A+. I fell in love with the city while she, my camera, fell in love with the Lomography Sunset Strip.

For a while I’ve wanted to find out what’s up with Berlin. I’ve wondered why everybody was crazy about this German city.

I confess, I don’t see Germany as the happiest country in the world. Before visiting Berlin, one might think that because of its dark past, it is a heavy and sad city. But believe me, nothing can be farther from the truth!

I found Berlin to be a true cosmopolitan city, probably because of its central location in Europe. There are people from every place in the world either working or studying in Berlin.

I don’t think it’s the most beautiful city in the world. You see, I’m from Lisbon, so you have to understand my standards. But it has the most awesome ambiance I’ve ever felt in an Western European city!

I visited Berlin in the first spring days and everybody was happy and friendly, enjoying the sun in the parks.

While I fell in love with the city, my LC-A+ found a new love, too. I shot using a Lomography Sunset Strip for the first time and I think my LC-A+ fell in love with it. I never imagined I could be so pleased with this combination.

Come and see the highlights of Berlin and notice the amazing colors that I got with this pair!

One last great thing about Berlin: If you, like myself, are coming from a place with a very small analogue photography market, be prepared to lose your mind! Film in Berlin is available even in supermarkets like Rossmann and DM, and they are very cheap! It was a delight for this Portuguese girl and her dear LC-A+. Now we have plenty of film to use on our next trips!

The Lomo LC-A+ is known worldwide for its amazing features: automatic exposure, extended ISO range, and multiple and long exposure capabilities. Get your own Lomo LC-A+ now!

Lomography Fisheye No.2: Seven Years of Wonder

Exactly seven years ago, I bought this camera from Indonesia's local Lomography community. I remember having some savings in my bank account and just spending it all on this camera. At that time, I browsed the microsite for the Lomography Fisheye No.2 and immediately fell in love with it! Coincidentally, my friend who introduced me to Lomography just bought this same camera for his birthday. My life has changed ever since I had the Fisheye, my first lomographic camera.

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.

Summer Hot Spots: Blaavand, Denmark (Part Two)

When I was a child, I regularly went to Blaavand, located at the Danish west coast, with my brothers and parents. I stopped going there as I grew up. In 2012 however, we hit the road again. It was my first return visit in about 20 years. I took the chance and packed as many cameras as possible into my luggage. In part two of my journey log, I'm going to show you the pictures I took with my Lomography cameras.

    Action.. basket time!

As you can see in my albums, I love to photograph sports events. In this case, I used a pretty Actionsampler camera to document a mini basketball game played in the park of my city Como, in celebration of the Festival of Sports. It's a funny camera with interesting results! Take a look after the jump!

A Day with the LC-A: From the Bus, Como (My Tribute to Robert Frank)

In 1958 the great photographer Robert Frank took a series of images of New York's street life with a Leica camera from a bus window, as in these series of photos that I took in my city Como with my trusty Lomo LC-A loaded with a Kodak Tri-X film. This is a tribute to a great camera and to a great photographer! Read more after the jump!
