Don’t you just hate it when your precious prints are threatened to be lost in blurry, blotched and smeared oblivion when they get wet? Let us show you how you can save them with this easy to do tipster!
Sometimes, there are no replacements for old photos in our photo albums. And at the very instance that they get wet, we need to move fast and save them from total ruin. This quick tipster we spotted on *WikiHow* shows us the perfectly simple way to save those precious memories from being turned into soggy pieces of colored paper.
Things you’ll need:
- Lukewarm water
- And your wet photo album
1. First off, carefully remove the wet photos from your album sleeves. Be very careful not to tear the photographs. If they look like they won’t come off anytime soon, make sure you dry the photographs in place as you keep the leaves of the album as open to air as possible.
2. Dry the photos. After taking them out of the album, make sure you line dry the photos. Use only one clip per photo and attach them to the line on one edge. This lets gravity work its way.
In the event that you don’t have a line that you can use to dry your photos on, use an absorbent material such as a kitchen or paper towel. WikiHow also adds that you should not blot as it could damage the surface.
3. If two photos are stuck together, soak them in lukewarm water. This is for those photos that threaten to tear themselves if you try to pull them apart once they dry up. A one-hour soak in lukewarm water will do the trick. Afterwhich, gently peel the two stuck photos apart.
4. In the event that your photos are drenched with other liquids aside from water, you need to soak them again in lukewarm water. Colored liquids like coffee, tea, wine, grape juice and the like may not come off very easily, though.
If all else fails, contact a photo professional for photos that may need photo restoration or other services. But hey, nothing can replace those memories right?
