His best friend and fellow lomographer weleasewoger72 used to make him feel bad about using an IPhone to take pictures. However, after trying out a Diana F+, our Newcomer of the Week, life_on_acetate, decided to ditch the digital territory and try his hand at analogue photography. Read on to find out more about this fascinating story of friendship and film photography!

Please tell us something about yourself.
I am an engineer by profession but most of the time I carry a camera in my hand. I have a dog named Zak. Like in my photography, I love to experiment with my cooking, and my tastes are as wide as my love of music.
How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?
My friend Steve (weleasewoger72) has an amazing collection of film cameras, and he enjoys making me feel sad about using my iPhone for taking pictures. One day, after repairing his Diana F+, I took a few rolls with it and instantly became hooked. He later passed on the camera to me! I have always loved taking pictures and the community was a natural development and I am so glad that I joined. :)
As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?
I always carry a camera with me and as it says on the film box: “Don’t think, just shoot.”
In this digital age, why still film?
I am by nature a traditionalist and I love the surprises, whether good or bad, that come with using film.
Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?
I love my Olympus Trip! It was the first camera I bought. I love using it so I try to shoot with it as often as possible. But the camera that’s always with me is the Lomo LC-A.
What is the camera you’d want to have someday?
The five cameras that are currently on my wishlist are:
- Lubitel 166 (I just love the way it looks!)
- Agfa Isoletta II (weleasewoger72 owns one and I am really envious!)
- Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer
- Leica IIIb
- Olympus Pen
Any song or movie you live by?
My ‘forever’ song is ‘All I Need’ by Air.
For me, this song is very emotional. Although the reasons I am in love with this song are mostly sad, it still puts me in a positive mood. It’s present on every mixtape I make.
Share your current favorite Lomograph, could be yours or a friend’s. Why?
That is so hard. There are so many talented people here and to pin point just one picture is nigh impossible.
I am only beginning my journey into the world of the Lomography but I am very proud of this shot:
I have just started experimenting with multiple exposures when I took this but I was really happy with the result.
Any Community member you look up to? If so, why him or her?
He’s getting a lot of love but it has to be weleasewoger72. He has been my best friend for over 20 years and he has the most amazing and creative eye. He deserves to go right to the top and I hope he does! BIG love seismic. :)
What are you looking forward to in our Community?
To develop my photography skills and make friends in the process. Everyone is really cool. :)
