Lomography x Nixon Surf Challenge

2

Here at Lomography, we are passionate about your passions. Whether it’s a photo of your pets, from your travels or celebrations, we absolutely love it when you share your precious moments with us through your astonishing snaps! We have also grown particularly fond of extreme sports and addicted to rushes of adrenaline through the years with adventure-seekers in the community. We are absolutely thrilled to tell you about our amazing new collaboration with Nixon, and offer you the chance to win amazing prizes!

Lomography is well-known for supporting analogue photography all around the world and we are pleased to see that many of you still capture the best moments of your lives on film. Through the years we have flipped through thousands of great pictures from your seasonal getaways and we’re raising the bar even higher.

We’re very proud to announce that we will be teaming up with the Nixon surf team during their six-day Surf Challenge in the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia for the 13th edition of its unique mobile surf event. This daring new challenge will take some of Europe’s finest riders, including Jonathan Gonzalez, Benjamin Sanchis and Eric Ribiere, to never-explored parts of the planet. The Kamchatka Peninsula is largely famous for its raw natural beauty and unforgiving climate. The freezing Arctic winds from Siberia, combined with a frigid sea current from the Sea of Okhotsk, should be the greatest of challenges for the participants but we’re pretty confident they’ll conquer the weather and impose their immense talents on Russian territory. The whole Nixon team will be equipped with our cameras and we can’t wait to see their adventurous analogue snaps! We are expecting a lot of incredible shots and adventurous and passionate LomoAmigos to surface on the magazine — so stay tuned. Meanwhile, we’ll keep you busy with the most exciting updates.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to wait for the wave to enter the competition; life itself is a ride! We’re giving you a month to share with us your best analogue photos of what the “riding life” means to you and spread the analogue love around the world. Whether it’s surfing the oceans, riding the concrete jungles or just living the rider’s life with your team, we want to discover your vision and see the world of riding through an analogue photo.

Analogue Archives: The Chakras of Colorsplashing, Revisited

Chances are you've seen plenty of color-drenched photographs while browsing through the Photos section. Faces painted blue, pets tinted green, and foliage splashed with pink light. It's called "Colorsplashing," one of Lomography's earliest techniques for giving your shots a quick color boost. We dug through the Lomography archives to revisit "The Chakras of Colorsplashing," a special project created by Lomography and Staple Design six years ago.

    My Lomo’Instant Quick Tips

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!
