Elx al Carrer - International Festival of Street Arts

5

Elche is a spanish city best known for its palm trees but to me the highlight of this city is the Street Arts Festival!

Held each year since 2006, the Elx al Carrer street arts festival (“Elx” is the valencian name for Elche and “carrer” for street) bursts the city with music, “passacalles” (walking bands), clown performances and handicraft stalls, of course!

Performances are held during the afternoons and evenings in the streets of the beautiful historic center of this Valencian city, gathering people from all over the country.

I was there in 2007 while studying in the city’s university and these days in June were probably some of the best days I spent there, dancing in the sunny desert-like afternoons and laughing with the funniest clown performances through the night.

If you are ever around during the festival, don’t hesitate to go to Elche. The festival is great for both kids and grown ups and it just contaminates everyone with a wave of good mood!

A Salute to the Masters: Ducks (A Tribute to Henri Cartier-Bresson)

This article is dedicated to arguably one of the most famous street photographers in the world, Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004). On this occasion, I felt obliged to write a tribute to this great artist whom I consider the "Mozart of Photography." His photos are inimitable, and to try to reproduce his innate sense of composition, harmony, and choice of the right moment is but an illusion. So I chose an unusual way to pay tribute, the only way possible for me. Take a look!

    Changing Seasons: Durham in Autumn

Durham is a beautiful but tiny university city in the north of England famous for its amazing cathedral, which is one of Britain's best loved buildings. When I was studying at the university, I loved to go for crisp, autumnal walks around the cathedral and the river, kicking the leaves and basking in the golden glow of the season. The Lomography Redscale film perfectly captures the beauty of this time of year.
