It's springtime in Chicago! That means more outdoor activities, and more shooting. We're ready to hop out of the winter hibernation and into sunnier seasons. We're also all looking forward to a great party to introduce the new Embassy store to our community. We've also got a bunch of brand-new items and more exciting news to share.
All workshops are $12 or $10 for students with ID. $5 if you bring your own camera. A roll of film will be provided, unless otherwise stated below
Sunday April 13 @ 2pm – Lomography Camera Basics
In honor of Film Photography Day, we’re celebrating by teaching an introductory workshop! At this workshop, we’ll go over basics such as loading your camera, troubleshooting, and how to take pictures in all lighting conditions! This is the perfect class for people that just got a new Lomography camera or people that just want to borrow one for the afternoon and need a little help getting started.
Sunday April 20 @ 2pm – Diana Instant Back
Learn everything you need to know about the Diana Instant Camera! There are a few important things that you need to do before shooting with the Instant Back, so we’ll show you how to make sure your camera is on the right settings in order to take great photos with this unique camera. This workshop is free and cameras will be provided, but you must buy your own Instax Mini film from us before the workshop.
Saturday April 26 7pm-10pm – Lomography Embassy Store and Emulsion Gallery Chicago Launch Party!
We’ve been working hard to create a new and improved Lomography store here in Chicago! To celebrate this epic change for the better we’re throwing a party to re-introduce the changes and improvements of the store. Please join us for a night of celebrations with drinks, snacks and analogue magic. Check out the new store for yourself, and let us show you the importance of keeping analogue photography alive and kickin. We’re the very first Embassy store in the United States, and we’re happy to show you what we have to offer.
Sunday April 27 @ 2pm – Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day Pinhole Workshop
In this educational workshop we’ll discuss what pinhole is, why it’s so special, and the best way to shoot with it today. Pinhole photography pretty much started it all so why not give it a whirl! We will be using the Diana F+, but if you have a pinhole camera of your own, bring it with you and the workshop will only be $5! We’ll even give you a roll of film to play with! If you don’t have a camera of your own, do not fret – we’ll have loaners for you. Be sure to bring your curiosity and appetite for pinhole photography!
