On Discovering the LC-A+’s Charm

2

During the last two weeks of February I was finally able to shoot with the LC-A+. It was only then that I was able to find out for myself just why many lomographers love to shoot with this awesome little camera.

The *LC-A+*, I think, is one of the easiest cameras that anyone could ever use. You only need to remember two things: to set the ISO setting in accordance with the film that you’re using (from 100 to 1600), and to adjust the focus setting (0.8m to infinity) depending on how far you are from your subject. The camera sets the exposure automatically, so you don’t need to worry about getting unsatisfactory shots every time.

Anyway, with the LC-A+ I was able to take not only standard shots but also doubles, a few portraits of my mom, and my first redscale shots. For a couple of weeks it was a staple in my bag, and I took photos of practically everything I see on my daily commute to work and on a trip to Intramuros one Sunday.

Here are a few outdoor shots:

One of the best things about the LC-A+ is that it works surprisingly well indoors even without the use of a flash:

With the LC-A+ you can create double and multiple exposure shots. Of course, I had to take some of mine, too!

The verdict? I love how fuss-free using the LC-A+ was, yet you’re still guaranteed decent shots most of the time. Honestly, I liked shooting with it so much that by the time I had to return it to the Lomography Manila office, I vowed to acquire my own soon! Next time, I want to try street photography in black and white and long exposures with it.

You can view the rest of the lomographs I took using the LC-A+ in my *LomoHome*!

The Lomo LC-A+ is known worldwide for its amazing features: automatic exposure, extended ISO range, and multiple and long exposure capabilities. Get your own Lomo LC-A+ now!

Incidentally, a friend from Seattle sent me two disposable cameras so I was finally able to participate. Disposable cameras aren't sold in Manila anymore. I timed my shoot during the week wherein I had to go out several times, also hoping for good weather.

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!

Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 120: Perfect for Endless Multiple Exposures!

About two years ago or so, I purchased the Lomography Redscale XR 50-200. I saved just one roll of this film and waited for the right moment to shoot with it. In April this year, I just wasn't able to take it anymore! I loaded this film into my Lubitel 166+, which I realized I hadn't used for maybe about six months. One idea came to mind: taking crazy multiple exposures!
