Have you ever wanted the prestige of working as a full-fledged photographer for the National Geographic magazine? Watch this short albeit very informative clip featuring the magazine’s very own Senior Photography Editor Susan Welchman and find out if you have what it takes!
Growing up we’ve all seen those beautiful, breathtaking photographs that filled the pages of the National Geographic magazines lying in our homes. For some of us these photos are what exactly inspired them to pursue a career in photography, or even as a photographer for National Geographic itself. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes for your work to be published on the magazine, you’re in luck because NatGeo photographer himself *David Alan Harvey*, also a Magnum photographer, has taken the liberty of asking this question to Senior Photography Editor *Susan Welchman* for the rest of us in this 3:38-long video posted on his _burn_ magazine.
It’s better if you guys watch the video for yourselves in order to really hear what Welchman has to say, but in a nutshell she prefers photographers who don’t copy other photographers and instead “develop your inner voice and inner vision.” Think you can do it? Welchman adds that she also needs utmost dedication from aspiring NatGeo photographers. “The photograph is first,” she says, and everything else comes after it.
“Now, if that isn’t your situation, forget it. Stop now.” It’s straightforward, but we can’t help but think that she makes a pretty fair point!

Having a respectable career photographing social, political and economical matters, Philip Wolmuth is capable of starting a dialogue with the public via his thought-provoking photographs.
Going through the collective of images on his latest work, it seems impossible not to be instantly affected by the rawness of the emotions captured within the images. The passion, the anger, the commotion, the rebellion, the fervor, the shouting, the devotion; his work is inebriating. It's as if the images are screaming at you and, for a short while, you are transported to the Speakers' Corner without actually setting foot on that location.
