We wanted to see how the Petzval lens handled the latest digital technology so we invited Uwe Mimoun to Lomography HQ to try out the Petzval on the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera!
Not only did we have a lot of fun, this video is a good example of how diverse our legendary lens is. We usually shoot with f 2.2 or f2.8 to get the swirly bokeh effect – But in this video we shot using f 5.6, demonstrating how you can achieve really sharp footage across the whole field with the Petzval Lens.

I was completely stoked when I got the chance to test the Petzval Lens for Lomography and the German photography magazine Kwerfeldein. I was afraid that I would end up wanting one for myself, and that's exactly what happened.
I participated in the Kickstarter campaign and purchased my very own new Petzval lens. I can't wait to use with with my digital camera to experience its wonderful bokeh effect. I also wanted to try its effects when using a film camera but the lens has an EF mount. I didn't have a Canon camera. See what I did with it after the jump.
