Why is this your Weapon of Choice?

Lomo LC-Wide is my Weapon of Choice because it is very compact, it has a lightmeter, and it is crazy wide! But, my favorite feature of Lomo LC-Wide is its ability to change shooting format. It can go full frame, square, and even half frame. This offers unlimited creativeness in shooting Lomographs. This is also one of the reasons why I use the LC-Wide when I do filmswaps with my friends across the countries.

Any memorable experiences you’ve had while using this Weapon of Choice?

In 2012, I planned a trip to Shanghai. I didn’t have a Lomo LC-Wide at that time. And I thought it’s a good camera to accompany me during my trip.

I was too careless then. Just a day before my trip, I realized that i haven’t prepared anything to bring to Shanghai. Worse, I haven’t bought an LC-Wide! So, just a few hours before my flight, I rushed to my friend’s store to purchase an LC-Wide and a couple of films. I left the box to my friend but managed to bring the camera to Shanghai safe and sound.

The story is not finished yet! At that time, I am not familiar with the characteristics of the camera yet. I haven’t tried it even once before. I did not know which ISO suits which condition. I did not even know how wide the photos are going to be! But don’t think just shoot, right? In the end, a lot of the photos turned out to be overexposed and out of focus.

Would you recommend this to other Lomographers? If yes, to whom do you have in mind?

I would recommend this camera to all selfie-lovers across the universe! Because of its wide angle, I can assure you that your selfie will look a thousand times better!

When using this, what are you favourite subjects to photograph and why?

I love to shoot portrait with this camera. Because of its wide angle, you can get your subjects and their surroundings to fit in the same frame. This camera produces nice underwater photos, too. Just don’t forget to put the camera inside the Krab!

    Giles Clement: The Wayfaring Tintyper

Reminiscent of traveling photographers of the 19th century, Giles Clement tours through the country with his assistant, Zeiss (an Irish Terrier), offering everything from portrait sessions to wildly creative photographic projects for magazines and companies. And although his mode of transportation may have evolved with the times, his photographic method and gear have changed very little compared to the photographers of days past. Now, with over 3 years of tintyping experience under his belt and an impressive list of clients, he's carved a name out for himself as an accomplished tintyper and continues to spread his passion for this ages-old technique everywhere he goes.
