Still too digital... when is Petzval coming in M42 mount??

@herbert-4: Can't you use an adaptor for the M42 mount? Like you will need one for this Sony mount too, which would be usefull to add to this article...

@wesco There are adapters, M42 to Nikon and Canon, but not Nikon or Canon to M42. Back focus does not allow it. Even better would be to make Petzval in a T mount with adapters to fit every SLR in the world. I have old T mounts to fit various generic lenses to Exacta (Topcon), M42, and Sigma SA. 2 of them are very exotic, a f/4 200mm Paroxitel forensic macro and a f/3.5 UKA 50mm uncoated fused quartz macro for photos outside visible spectrum (There will be UVA photos this Spring, I have a #403 filter, too). The Petzval counts as very exotic. I think it should be made to fit everything, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!

@herbert-4: Thanks for the clarification, I support your desire! But why not buy a Nikon or Canon SLR for the Petzval, it should not be more than 30-40 € or $ I think secondhand?

@wesco It's the principal of the thing... T mount with adapter would fit every SLR, T2 mount with adapter would fit everything, including Leica M39 and Leica M bayonet, even M42 with adapter will fit most SLR's. LSI only made the Petzval for Canon and Nikon mounts. These are only most common on DSLR's, otherwise, the most common mount in the world is M42, by very far. I think it was a less than perfect business choice, and it's another windmill for me to tilt at (I am Don Quixote). It should have been a T2 mount with adapters for everything, have a real 9 blade diaphragm, with only the goofy inserts as waterhouse stops behind the diaphragm, like old soft focus Zeiss portrait lenses. I'll probably get a Canon SLR and buy the Petzval when I'm not annoyed any more. It's just not as good as it could of been with more thought and research. I'm old and read everything all my life, but I don't know why I remember all this stuff...
