How did we miss this for so long?? There is a street named after our beloved Joseph Petzval right here in Vienna! Read on to see a little video of our pilgrimage across the city to visit Petzvalgasse.
It was only a few weeks ago that we discovered this intriguing news. The legendary lens designer Joseph Petzval is not only buried alongside some of Austria’s most famous composers, writers and artists in Vienna’s Zentralfriedhof; this fascinating fellow made such an impression on Austrian life that he even has a road named after him in the City. Of course, as soon as we found out about this, we couldn’t resist taking a little trip and taking some photos with the Lomography x Zenit New Petzval Lens on Petzvalgasse itself! We made this little video for you to enjoy…
Petzvalgasse is situated close to Vienna’s main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and just a stone’s throw away from the underground station Südtiroler Platz.
And Petzvalgasse isn’t the only road to be named after Petzval. We still have other places to explore. Don’t forget about Jozefa Maximiliána Petzvala in Galanta, Slovakia
