Last week we saw a solo artist do amazing gif animation using his camera, lights and an insane amount of creativity. Now, we go into the center of collective group GIFriends that offer a glimpse into fun moments in GIF.
Parties, fun times and travel – all these and more are captured by gif collective GIFRIENDS using their different camera setups and imaginative ideas. The collective is composed of Marisa Gertz, Alex Thebez, Peter Marquez and Michael Fivis and has been photographing and making animated images since 2010.
The animated realities concocted by the creative minds at GIFRIENDS offer a multi-layered look to what we see in our daily lives. Their series “A-B” shows us looping images of trains and passengers stuck in a limbo of public transport. “where r u” on the other hand showcases the layered realities we all live in – scrolling down on our smartphones, typing on our computer keypads and different aspects that we manage to squeeze in between our busy lives.
What’s appealing about their images is that somehow, we can relate to them after a few loops or so.
