Rare edition of William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ features color illustrations by Salvador Dali

We dare say this is a dream come true for every Dali and Shakespeare fan!

Anyone who’s at least heard of Salvador Dali immediately associates him with painting. On the other hand, those who are a bit more privy to his life and art would also be familiar with works in sculpture, theater and film, photography, architecture, literature, and even graphic arts. But did you know that the surrealist artist also dabbled a few times with creating illustrations for literary classics _Don Quixote_ by Miguel de Cervantes (1946), _Alice in Wonderland_ by Lewis Carroll (1969), essays by Michel de Montaigne (1947), and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare (1975)? The last classic, in particular, is still available for purchase!

But don’t get excited just yet, as this Rizzoli and Rizzoli-published edition, most unfortunately, can’t be found in bookstores. There are only 999 copies available and sold by Illinois-based Locksport Street Gallery. The price of each copy was not stated, though it’s probably safe to assume that it could cost an arm and a leg given these details!

We’re still in luck, though, because we can still have a glimpse of these gems through these photographs!
