Film Negative Art by Nick Gentry

For artists like Nick Gentry, nothing really goes to waste, as he upcycles old film negatives and x-ray films into pieces of art. Check it out!

We’ve featured artist Nick Gentry in the past with his floppy disk art. During that time, he was still soliciting film negatives and x-rays to use for this next project. It seems that he finally got enough material to push through with his work.

He had to layer several negatives to outline and shadow the features of his portrait subjects. Look how the colors differ and gradate on his portraits. As for the hair, that’s quite a nice use of an x-ray! What’s interesting here is that Gentry has to work with what he has on hand. He still champions the idea of “contributor, artist and viewer come closer together” by just using what’s been contributed to his artistic cause.
