The Pacific Island Paradise

16

Boracay is considered as one of the best beaches in the Philippines and as noted by some in the world! Everyone must come here at least once in their life and I’ve got the pictures to prove why!

This pacific island paradise is called Boracay, the most popular beach in the Philippines. I wouldn’t be surprised of there were several other LomoLocations dedicated to this beach — and this is my submission, unable to resist contributing my own experience to the community.

Boracay is a 4km long beach with crystal blue waters and white sand! It is the most traveled to beach destination in the Philippines. Apart from its beautiful beach, it has a lot of luxurious resorts, amazing variety of restaurant (and amazingly delicious “street foods”) and tons of fun activities to do! I would certainly recommend to staying at least four days to fully enjoy all that this place can offer! It’s high season (when the waters are clear, and the weather is perfect) starts on October and end in May.

Normally, around 50 to 80 percent of vacationers in Boracay are foreigners! It can be a bit expensive for Filipinos to come here since but with early planning, reservations and ticket purchases, it can be as affordable as going to the regular beaches!

I went to Boracay during the Christmas break to spend time with my friends (and my cameras, Haha). Me, being an excited “lomographer,” brought 4 of my film cameras and made sure I spent quality time with each one of them during my trip! Everywhere I went, there was something worth taking a shot off! Every time I found myself admiring the view, I automatically took a shot of it remember not to think and to just shoot!!

The pictures I have uploaded here feature the beach and my documentation of four days and three nights of relaxation and pure bliss! As I traveled back home, I couldn’t wait to get my films developed and scanned! If only establishments were open and operating during New Year’s Eve, I would’ve directly gone to the photolab straight from the airport!

*These shots were taken with Diana F+, Supersampler and Pentax MV-1.

Seeing Manila in a Whole New Light

I've photographed this city many times in the past—in color, black and white, and even in redscale. One day in March, the streets of Manila once again became my subject. Only this time, they turned into otherworldly places as the LomoChrome Turquoise drastically shifted its colors...at least on film.

The World According to Herr Willie: The Amazon

It was the Amazon which I had longed for my whole life. And when it was finally a set deal that I will travel to Brazil with two of my best friends for the Copa do Mundo (World Cup), we really had to start our adventure in the Amazon. I had known about this magical place deep in the rainforest. There was a lodge run by local people of indigenous background, with wooden houses that float on the water and a limited number of visitors. It was eco-tourism as how it should be. To preserve and to celebrate one of the most impressive locations I have seen so far.

Lantern Slides From the 'Psychic Photography From a New Angle' Series

Mysterious apparitions and other inexplicable phenomena on film, or generally speaking, for that matter, are as highly debated topics today as they were many decades ago. In 1934, a certain Mr. C.P. MacCarthy of 15 Wilkinson Street, Sheffield held a lecture at 76 Clarkehouse Road located in the same city to "demonstrate under test conditions Fake Psychic Photography" before an invited committee. MacCarthy's demonstration was accompanied by a series of photographs titled "Psychic Photography From a New Angle."
