Ma. Cristina Falls is one of the most beautiful and beneficial falls throughout the Philippines. It is the primary source of energy of almost all Mindanao cities and provinces.
It is in Iligan, Lanao Del Norte you can find a scenic and breath-taking waterfall like this called as Ma. Cristina Falls. Located in the southern part of Iligan City, Ma. Cristina Falls is perhaps a beaut to most of the tourists visiting the place. Finding your way there can be as easy or you can just merely drop by the Iligan City Hall for some directions. If you like it the “Filipino Way”, you can pull over a car and ask a “manang” or a passer-by about the directions to the Ma. Cristina Falls. Surely they will tell you which way to go and maybe some shortcuts too.
National Power’s Hydroelectric Plant, or more commonly known as Agus 6 Hydroelectric Plant runs the whole electricity and power of city industries and establishments almost throughout the whole Mindanao region. Its strong current powers up almost the whole Mindanao and is one of the greatest among the 23 other waterfalls found in the so-called “Majestic City of the Waterfalls”.
Some few years ago, Ma. Cristina Falls has two waterfalls that looks like tears flowing. Today, it has only now a single drop from the 320-feet high mountain. A legend tells that a giant monster once owned the place called Lake lanao. Rajah Solaiman, a chieftain of some place near the lake confronted and attacked the giant, but he was defeated. Then his brother, Rajah Indarapatra followed the monster and killed him.
For years Indarapatra looked for his brother’s lost ring. He asked the animals to helped him but it didn’t gave him any solution. Soon enough, Indarapatra made some irrigation system that later came to known as Agus River, which has a part that drops down water from a deep ravine, now called the Ma. Cristina Falls.
Ma. Cristina Falls is famous and is the tourist spot for Iligan City. Getting there is easy and fast.
