For this feature, we’re putting the spotlight on young Spanish photographer Berta Pfirsich and her trendy work in analogue!
25-year old Berta works as a librarian but was actually formally trained in photography at the IDEP Barcelona, as well as in Fashion Styling at the Instituto Europeo di Design. She has lived in Berlin, Savannah, and Colorado, but mainly spends time in her hometown of Barcelona and Portland now.
In an interview with Frankie Magazine, Berta revealed that she shoots purely in analogue as “it’s the most natural way to work for me.” Apparently, she doesn’t fancy editing photos, even claiming that she’s “not really friends with Photoshop…” All the digital work that needs to be done are being taken care of by her husband, Michael Skattum.
Aside from Frankie, Berta’s work has also been featured previously in Vogue China, Material Girl, VICE, Nylon, Tiger, and Contributor. She has also shot ad campaigns for labels like Monki, Coolway, Converse, WHO, and Twisty Parallel Universe.
