An airdancer in the sun is the star of our Photo of the Day.
Do you know what an airdancer is? It’s a long inflatable tube attached to a fan, with the air from the fan causing the tube to move in a dancing motion. Airdancers are usually made to resemble a figure with a face and arms, and while moving, the ‘arms’ seem to be flailing. The airdancer in this photo seems to be having fun dancing against the sunset.

Valerio Spada went beyond his comfort zone and stepped right into the battlefield with his camera. He went to Naples, Italy, an area populated by the Camorra Mafia but also home to Annalisa Durante who, at the age of 14, was killed by a bullet aimed at a Camorra boss. What happened to her could've happened to any of the girls portrayed in the book Gommorah Girl. This work is about Annalisa. It's about all of the girls that, just like her, seem doomed to an unfair destiny - which, hopefully, may still change.
The second trailer for "Star Wars:Episode VII - The Force Awakens" has the internet abuzz in the last last few hours. To join in on the fun, we scoured our archives and the cyberspace for some Star Wars treasures. Think Princess Leia and her double in that glorious gold costume, plus a photo of the new cast in roundtable discussion.
This article is a tribute to an important street photographer, Edouard Boubat. His pictures are characterized by great poetic touch, strong social sensitivity, and utmost respect for people and places. Inspired by a book which contains Boubat's photos taken in the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, I pay homage by showcasing some of my photos taken within the same geographic area.
Two days from now, Lempertz will hold a sale of 195 photographic prints. The lineup is as varied as the history of photography itself. An 1856 print by an anonymous photographer is in the same group as a top-valued Joseph Szabo shot. A deceptively simple shot of a flower vase is joined by the complex textures of Lucien Hervé. Take a look at the fascinating mix.
