Here’s a glimpse of Christmas at the Fitzgerald household!
The Fitzgeralds lived in France, particularly in France and in the French Riviera, in several different occasions during the 1920s. This photograph in particular was taken in 1925 in Paris, probably at their apartment near the Arc de Triomphe, at Rue 14 de Tilsitt. The Fitzgerald couple was known for their extravagant lifestyle and, as you can see in this photo, that manifested even with their choice of Christmas decors!
Much of modern dance as it is today owes a lot to Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn, husband and wife who founded the famous school and dance company, the Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts in 1915 Los Angeles, California. At first solo artists, St. Denis and Shawn began collaborating a year prior on dances often described as exotic and sensual, at times even erotic.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the publication of one of the most influential photography books ever, "Ballet" by the photographer, art director, and graphic designer Alexey Brodovitch. Brodovitch took a series of photos of classical dance in a very unconventional way, using very slow exposure times, trying to catch the true essence of Russian ballets. For this article, I took a series of photos at the Swing Crash Festival in my city, Como, held in June 2015.

Their movement is as hard to predict as the weather. One minute they're on a standstill, the next they horde the sky with their brisk wings. This is precisely why people need binoculars and camouflage suits just to trace the track of birds. Similarly for photographers, these creatures present a friendly challenge. To capture the perfect stance, on land as in mid-air, is a reward.
