Miniature Printing Presses by Letterproeftuin

Need to print a card or illustration on the fly? Forget those high-end laser printers for a while and look for the smallest printing company instead!

In today’s high-tech and fast-paced world, it’s understandable how most of us go for the quickest, most convenient, and most fool-proof options. But, creative minds never seem to run out of ideas for making things in the simplest way, with results that are never short of awesome.

Take, for example, the neat idea of Letterproeftuin, a traveling open source design studio from the Netherlands. For this year’s International Poster and Graphic Design Festival, they made some miniature screen and letter printing presses for printing small, posters, and books prints while on location. Take a look at some photos of the mini printing presses in and out of action below:

While Letterproeftuin most likely won’t be making these mobile printing presses for sale, it would be awesome to have one for making postcards, contact cards, and maybe even booklets! A clever and creative idea, don’t you think?

    Stalking the City: Ricardo Lozano

New York is an infinitely photographable city in spite—or because—of its innate chaos. And even when the medium is film, praised nowadays for the virtue of slowness, the photographer must keep up with the city’s pace. Ricardo Lozano, 35mm photographer and Lomography community member, managed to do it for the series OK Commuter, now a book by A Love Token Press.

    LomoLocations: Beijing, China

Beijing is a ready-made template for panoramic shots. Tourist baits like The Great Wall, Forbidden City and Summer Palace stretch for miles. Those who walk from end to end will have more to say. For instance, that the ground goes on to infinity. Or that they have never been so tired and amazed all at once.

Lantern Slides From the 'Psychic Photography From a New Angle' Series

Mysterious apparitions and other inexplicable phenomena on film, or generally speaking, for that matter, are as highly debated topics today as they were many decades ago. In 1934, a certain Mr. C.P. MacCarthy of 15 Wilkinson Street, Sheffield held a lecture at 76 Clarkehouse Road located in the same city to "demonstrate under test conditions Fake Psychic Photography" before an invited committee. MacCarthy's demonstration was accompanied by a series of photographs titled "Psychic Photography From a New Angle."

    Neil Krug: Pulp, Rock, Color

In 2009, Neil Krug uploaded a commercial for Pulp Art Book on Youtube. Photographic Pairs

When a photographer encounters a pair, an instinct rushes in, "Is this a special, intimate moment I just stumbled on?" Or else, those accidents of two objects, two birds, two swaying plants camping together especially for your photo. This might not be the case, but it's still a pleasant thing for patterns and quirks to find their way into an everyday shot.
