Ian Ruhter: The 'Breaking Bad' of Analogue Photography

Ian Ruhter describes himself as an alchemist. Through the magic of film photography, he offers to paint a portrait of America. His goal: to connect everyone. His tools: a dark room at the back of an RV, chemicals, and wet collodion plates. Find out about his project through this beautiful video.

The Silver & Light Project by Ian Ruhter is part of a process to re-discover the roots of analogue photography. At the back of his van, which will surely remind “Breaking Bad” fans of the one Jesse Pinkman and Walter White use in the series, Ruhter “cooks” his photos using the original analogue technique.

“I didn’t just build a camera, I created a time machine.”

Ruhter’s project is also taking chances at recovering the American spirit. Through his portraits and landscapes, Ruhter gives us a timeless vision of America today. Each photo is “a moment frozen in time.”
