Lomomission 61: Sporty Spice! Winner Announcement

After everyone obliged to break out in a sweat just to show us how active a Lomographer's life is, now is the time to see who best played the sport using the camera!

In order to effectively capture such rigid and fast sporty lifestyle, one must have the perfect companion that can take the bumps and rolls with him and for us it goes without saying that it’s definitely got to be our much loved Lomographic camera! You can have it hanging on your neck and click its shutter button while you dodge the ball off the scatterbrained goalkeeper, or have a hip-shot point of view of how you effortlessly hit the bulls-eye!

Mind you, taking pictures is a sport itself. Where each one needs to know where and when to snap that right moment, and hopefully be rewarded with at least one precious shot out of that roll of film. And if that certain shot continues to remain powerful and relevant for years to come, by then you’ll know it’s the best photograph you’ve ever made.

So have your cheers, chants and yells ready as we take a look at who were sporty enough to win!

The Jury says:

Talk about extremes! kboboland combines the intensity of biking and water sports in one photo! We just hope that bike didn’t crash head-on with that boat!

Lomomission 61 Winner: kboboland

We might be seeing more photos of his extreme (and odd sports) travelogues, now that he will be receiving the only water-proof Lomographic sea creature – the Fisheye 2 + Submarine combo! An extra fishy one for the water just for you! Congratulations! Kindly contact Sarah for your prize. Please don’t forget to send your important user/delivery details and prize(s) won!

Runners up:

2nd Place 15 piggies

3rd Place10 piggies

4th Place 5 piggies

There is nothing better than a photo shot at the perfect moment. Henri Cartier-Bresson's principle on "The Decisive Moment" is a principle that we should still follow to this day. A perfectly-timed photo creates impact, whether it's one of a friend jumping into the pool or a couple emerging from the ceremony on their wedding day. For this rumble, we want to see that breathtaking moment, shot at the perfect time. And you showed us what it's like to be on time.

Fresh from My Darkroom: The First Game of the New Rugby Season

Last Sunday, the local rugby team Rugby Como played the first match of the 2014-1025 season. Rugby is my favorite sport to photograph, and for some years I've been documenting almost every home match of this young team. This time I used a 1959 Zorki 5 camera with a vintage 1958 Industar-50 lens loaded with a timeless film, the Ilford HP5+ developed in a century-old developer, the mythical Rodinal. Take a look after the jump!

    A Compilation of Lomo'Instant Stories

There are many possible reasons for taking pictures. It could be to document an event, to capture breathtaking scenery, to preserve a fond memory, or simply, to have a snapshot of someone close to your heart. Whatever the reason, there's almost always a story behind a picture, no matter how significant or trivial it may be. And for lomographers, nothing beats the feeling of having that story unfold in your hand, in the form of a print. If you want a quick keepsake from that treasured moment or a snapshot of that special someone though, you can have it instantly, through Lomo'Instant Stories!
