A witty ad campaign will make you realize how lucky you probably are with your work right now compared to another you in a parallel universe – or more realistically, to some others!
This series of creative ads was the brainchild of King James, a Cape Town-based advertising agency, created for the recently-concluded Eagle Print Awards. It utilizes humor by slapping the tagline, “In a parallel universe, your job might suck. Make the most of this one,” on photos of people stuck in unsavory jobs: a female masseuse rubbing the hairy back of an overweight client, a man holding up a target above his head in a shooting range, and a man clearing up roadkill from a highway.
While the series’ main audience supposedly are the people from the advertising industry, the message surely resonates to all other industries (in a not-so-distant past, I used to grumble a lot about a previous job, too!). King James’ series takes “working hard for the money” on a hilarious, extreme level and delivers a strong message at the expense of others, but sometimes, this kind of thinking is what makes people take a look, listen to what you have to say, and take the necessary action!
