Skateboard Photography on Raw Film by Erwin Polanc and Red Bull

Shooting action shots like skateboarding seems like a hard thing to do with analogue cameras and film but photographer Erwin Polanc does the job in amazing fashion!

We’ve all heard of professional photographers using film for their personal and sometimes commissioned work, but it’s usually relegated to portraits, street photos, and landscape. Erwin Polanc, together with Red Bull, goes against the grind in this shoot. Armed with his trusty Hasselblad and rolls of 120 film, Polanc pulled off a seemingly daunting session with ease. After the shoot, he developed and scanned the rolls himself. Check out the behind the scenes below!

A Salute to the Masters: The Girl with the Scarred Face (A Tribute to Juergen Teller)

This is a tribute to Juergen Teller, a great fashion photographer who continues to work with analogue cameras. In the 1990s he radically changed the way to make fashion photography. His models appear "soap and water", without heavy make-up, and his images seem taken like an amateur photographer. Between his nice works, there is a photos that I like so much, taken in Cuba and called "The Girl with the Broken Nose." Take a look after the jump!

Photographers on Why They Still Shoot Film (Part 2)

It is Film Photography Day, and we are counting the ways the activity fuels the imagination. One photographer likens it to the soulful sound of an LP. Another chases its risk or does it with a leap of faith. But the consensus is clear: Film photography keeps people on their toes for the best possible shot!

Fresh from the Lab: One Roll of Film and the Lubitel 166U

Adi, Ekeu, and I did a lomowalk around downtown Bandung last Saturday, the beginning of November. We planned to use our Lubitel cameras with only one roll of film each. We were inspired by the One Roll of Film Project by four Tokyo-based photographers with their Hasselblad cameras. This is about the one roll of film I shot with the Lubitel 166U, which made me love shooting in medium format even more.
