Looking For 100% Analogue Cameras

8

Once upon a time, I was living in a little town in Spain, with my parents. I liked so much photography, and I have a little camera for it too.

In my school, we can learn to develop B&W films. We spent a lot of hours doing experiments. One day, the teacher, showed us a black square camera: A Lubitel!!! Since that day, I was in love. Some years ago, in another town, in Ferrol, I saw one Lubitel in a shop. This was very expensive for me (Then, I was a “simple” student). The love ran away for now. When I began to work, I begin to search for a Lubitel. When Internet became available, I saw some links with information, but my love was nowhere to be found.

In 2003, I was looking for a 100% analogue camera (It means: without batteries …) I looked everywhere, and the web took me to a FED5. Then, a light touched me!!! I finally met the Lomographic World! I was preparing for a trip to London, so I looked for the direction of a shop in which I could buy this marvel. I found it and, between the visit to the British Museum and to the London Eye, I went to meet with my FED 5. Of course, there was also an ActionSampler of living colors, who came with us …

Years later, I saw some Lubitels on sale, but I still have not enough money to spend. One Lomohome of the day, some “pink” presents, oktokino, lomowalls, etc. and at last I have piggies enough to buy one Lubitel. The last summer, I made my order. In a few days, I was at work, my wife received the parcel. When I come to my home, SHE was there, waiting for me. In Spain, in these situations, we say that “One is so happy than a little boy with a new pair of shoes”.
Nowadays, I am trying to use my Lubitel with 35 mm. film. It isn’t easy to gett 120 film in my town, and it is more expensive to develop them.

Of course, the FED5, the ActionSampler, A beautiful Fisheye, and a Spanish Werlisa Club Color are my habitual partners in my Lomographic world I enjoy taking photos twice or more times between all this cameras!!!

    Object of My Affection: Subbuteo

In my early adolescence, I liked to play table football. For my 12th birthday, my parents gifted me with a wonderful Subbuteo table soccer game set that I had wished for many months! This was my favorite toy until I discovered other interesting hobbies, like ham radio and electronics. So after some years, I gave away this game to other kids. I always remembered this game with pleasure and a hint of nostalgia.

Five Days, Four Kinds of Film and Three Cameras on the French Riviera

It had been five years since my last visit to the Côte d'Azur in France. During this period, I took to film photography again. And so for my return, I was looking forward to capturing, with my handy film cameras, some of that special light and blue sea that had drawn so many artists to the Riviera.

What do you do when you don't have much time in a city like New York but you want to see everything, feel the vibe and be part of the community, even for a short time? Jump on a bike and enjoy what trains, buses and cabs can never give you: be part of the city. Take a camera with you to capture the moments and sights you don't want to forget. Tipster: Three Easy Distressed Masks for the Lomo'Instant

I like to make and use masks with my Lomo'Instant camera, but sometimes they are too dominant. In coming up with more subtle masks, I found several that produced an interesting, distressed look, especially when paired with the camera flash and color gel strips. They're especially good for creating Halloween-themed photos.

Reviving An Old Polaroid 1000 Camera

Some time ago, my parents-in-law gave me an old Polaroid camera that they used during my wife's childhood. After some investigation, I found out that Polaroid had stopped making instant film. But the factory in Enschedé, the Netherlands had been taken over by The Impossible Project, so I bought a package of fresh film and gave it a try!

A Salute to the Masters: R.I.P. (A Tribute to George Krause)

This article is dedicated to the multifaceted American photographer George Krause and to his series depicting funeral monuments realized between 1962 and 1963. I was able to know about this series thanks to an important essay on photography written by former Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Director of Photography, John Szarkowski. For this tribute, I loaded my trusty Praktica camera with a roll of Ilford film and took a series of photos in the Monumental Cemetery in my city, Como. Take a look!
