Like a dream come true, Ballerina Project is a series, to which Dane Shitagi has dedicated 12 years. It is not the typical photography series about dance. It is an in-depth study of dancers’ hearts and feelings.

Every detail of Ballerina Project has been carefully created. Most of the subjects either dance or have danced for ballet companies such as the American Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Dresden Semperopera Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Ballet West or New York City Ballet. And the others are at schools like School of American Ballet or Kennedy Onassis School. Both dance and photography are professions deeply respected by both sides of Ballerina Project.

Most parts of the project has been shot with film and analogue cameras. Digital photography was first included in spring 2012.

Ballerina Project currently has one of the biggest networks of followers among the ballet-related pages on Facebook. Plus, it has been published in several prestigious media outlets like Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post and countless blogs. Over and above it, it has been used by Fujifilm and Sony Ericsson for their advertising campaigns.
