Making Memories: The First Autumn In My Life by Yokekei

My best analogue memory is the first Autumn and Winter I experienced in my life. This was during my trip to Korea. After the jump, check out the vivid photos of the season of Fall – not a season found in my home country of Malaysia!

There’s only summer in Malaysia, thus, this was a memorable trip for me. I traveled to Gyeongju, a costal city in Korea, and Busan, the second largest city after Seoul.

The first time I saw Autumn leaves, the colours were so lovely and romantic. Besides, this was the first time I put on winter jacket with a scarf and walked on a cold, windy street.

Seafood in Busan is really awesome and fresh – thumbs up! I also met lots of friendly and helpful locals. They made me feel so warm and welcome, as a traveler in a strange country.

I miss Korea, I miss Autumn.

Fresh from My Darkroom: The First Game of the New Rugby Season

Last Sunday, the local rugby team Rugby Como played the first match of the 2014-1025 season. Rugby is my favorite sport to photograph, and for some years I've been documenting almost every home match of this young team. This time I used a 1959 Zorki 5 camera with a vintage 1958 Industar-50 lens loaded with a timeless film, the Ilford HP5+ developed in a century-old developer, the mythical Rodinal. Take a look after the jump!

The New Petzval Lens Through the Seasons

The New Petzval Lens is not only known for its elegant brass exterior, but most importantly for the swirly bokeh effect it can bring to photographs. It makes a great portrait lens and performs exceptionally when taking photos of subjects against textured or lit backgrounds, day or night. And it does all these, in wet or dry weather; in any season – winter, spring, summer, or fall.

Reviving An Old Polaroid 1000 Camera

Some time ago, my parents-in-law gave me an old Polaroid camera that they used during my wife's childhood. After some investigation, I found out that Polaroid had stopped making instant film. But the factory in Enschedé, the Netherlands had been taken over by The Impossible Project, so I bought a package of fresh film and gave it a try!
