T-shirts worn with a pair of jeans - if you can change this classic and global style, then you could be the next Coco Chanel, Anna Wintour, or Karl Lagerfeld. It could be your chance!
Nowadays, at this time of global economic crisis and when the fashion industry has been reducing the number of models as well as cutting down on costs of the fabric for the clothes, a lot of citizens around the world would wear t-shirts and jeans.
I like wearing t-shirts together with a pair of jeans wherever I go, just like many others.
I’m just amazed by whoever created the first t-shirt because his or her creation is still being worn by billions of people around the world.
As of Sundanese and Minangnese descent, I actually really want to embody these cultures’ fashion style everyday. The problem is that I don’t know much about the cultures of my parents’ tribes. It would make me feel incomplete if I would just wear the traditional clothes without knowing about the tradition. For me, fashion is not just something that I wear; I am being represented by my fashion sense. Wearing traditional clothes without knowing the meaning behind them is just like wearing a Led Zeppelin t-shirt without knowing their music.
T-shirts are also the simplest representation or medium of the people’s mind.
For us analogue lovers, t-shirts are the most ideal subjects to be photographed.
Last year, I read a comic book at a bookstore about the inventor of jeans. I was very amazed at how creative he was at his age and at the era that he lived in. “I should have a creative mind like his,” I told myself after I got home from the bookstore.
For the last decade, skinny jeans is the most famous type of pants in Indonesia. It’s because of the global revival of the music industry lead by artists such as The Strokes, The White Stripes, and The Libertines, who are being idolized in Indonesia. Indonesian musicians, film actors, and other public figures would copy them and wear skinny jeans, too, so it became famous in my country. As for me, I never had a single pair of skinny jeans because I don’t feel comfortable wearing it. Fashion is also about comfort, right?
Blue jeans is the most famous kind of pants, but it doesn’t have to be in blue to be called jeans, right? I’m not into fashion, so correct me if I’m wrong!
Jeans are for all ages and genders. Case in point, I, my dad, and my late granddaddy wear it.
