John Lennon wearing a Superman shirt, smiling a simple smile and striking a pose

A cape, a change of hairstyle, and a little bit of muscle and the famous Beatle is all set to become Superman!

John Lennon may be channeling his inner superhero in the photo above, but it’s actually one of the outtakes taken by Alan Aldridge in 1973 for John’s book entitled The Penguin John Lennon. The book brings into one volume two of Lennon’s humorous prose works, “John Lennon In His Own Write” (1964), and “A Spaniard in the Works” (1965), and includes some of his line drawings and illustrations. As you will find in the final image chosen for the cover below, the altered S-logo is a rather interesting touch!
