Fuji Silvi 1000 LS : The Cheaper Version of Fuji Natura Classica?

15

One of my dream cameras is the Fuji Natura Classica. But poor me, I can't find it anywhere in my country, and it will be very expensive to buy it online as well. Luckily, one day I found this camera called Fuji Silvi 1000 LS, which is only about US $10. Find out the performance of this camera after the jump!

Fuji Silvi 1000 LS is one of the cheapest Fuji compact cameras. It is a compact camera, silver, and also has a remote control! The looks of this camera may be similar to Fuji Zoom Date, and actually the features are also quite the same. It has a Super-EBC Fujinon Zoom 28-100mm Lens, which means it can zoom in and out, and also a built-in flash. And it uses a CR2 Battery, just like Fuji Instax Mini.

You can select 5 modes to shoot. There are auto modes (with flash) , red-eye mode, flash mode, without flash, and a low-power flash. After that, you can set it with or without the timer (up to 3 seconds) or you can set to use the remote control or not. For the focus setting, you can select Auto Focus, Landscape, and Macro. The last one is to set whether you want to insert date-time or not. See? It’s pretty much like Fuji Zoom Date.

But one thing that i love about this camera is its ability to capture lights even in low-light situations, just like a Fuji Natura Classica! I tried to use it without flash indoors and the results are amazing. At that time I used ISO 400 film. I also tried with ISO 800 film in overcast weather, it also looks good. I haven’t had the chance to use black and white and slide film though, but I think it will do just fine.

The remote control works well for self portrait and is also suitable if you pair it with low-power flash mode because low-power flash mode works well for portrait photos. I tried a little photo session with my friends with this pairing mode, and it was really fun!

Fuji Silvi 1000 LS has a weakness just like any other camera. Sometimes it has light-leaks. I think the light-leaks come from the small gap from the zooming lens. It makes a circular leaks in the corner of the photos.

In general, I love this camera even though I might buy a Fuji Natura Classica if i have enough money one day. After that day comes, I will use this camera to its maximum potential!
Have a nice day!

Halow mas bro! hehehehhe @bebopbebop @adi_totp @hervinsyah @istionojr @vonkrueger Keren articlenya... ngikut komen ah... emang fuji silvi yg 1000LS ini kurang populer, dan buatan lokal.... nga tau, mungkin emang buat pasar asia sekitar Indonesia dan sekitar nya kali ya?! Pernah bbrp kali ngisi pelem jg trus bahas sama bram ttg glare nya itu.... cukup mengganggu sih kadang2... tp abis liat2 emang coating nya ga bagus...( ya nga sebagus fujinon jepang) makanya jangankan di direct sunlight, di direct lampu ruangan aja kadang glare nya muncul. Jd emang si coating nya sih yg bikin glare. IMHO... Mohon koreksi nya para master... :))

Correction: This is not a cheap camera. This camera was made in Indonesia but only officially for sale in the Japanese market at a price of Y45.000 (Rp4.000.000) in 2001. It is a premium camera marketed at the upper class. Not all Silvis have the light leaks. You will only experience light leaks if you use it in 28mm wide angle. I own two Silvis. One has the light leak (at wide angle) and the other Silvi does not. Either way, it takes great pictures and is a high end product. It is not cheap by any means. It is probably one of the best compact film cameras ever made. I have the original box with the price and all original documentation. If you bought it in Indonesia, you got it cheap because it was smuggled in the black market. It's a luxury item. Good luck and happy photography. :-)

Fresh from the Lab: Silvia Precisa

Recently, I used my trusty Fuji Silvi. It may not be my all-time favorite camera, but I just wanted to use it because I kind of missed shooting with it. So I decided to look through my film stash to see what I could use with the Fuji Silvi. After much consideration, I ended up picking the old Agfa CT Precisa ISO 100 to get that classic blue tone. Silvia Precisa!

Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 120: Perfect for Endless Multiple Exposures!

About two years ago or so, I purchased the Lomography Redscale XR 50-200. I saved just one roll of this film and waited for the right moment to shoot with it. In April this year, I just wasn't able to take it anymore! I loaded this film into my Lubitel 166+, which I realized I hadn't used for maybe about six months. One idea came to mind: taking crazy multiple exposures!
