Proud as a Peacock Thanks to Lomography Peacock X-Pro 110

2

Its been some time since Lomography published a slide film in 110 format, Peacock X-Pro 110. No experience with slide film, but secretly curious about the outcome? You will be amazed!

I have never used slide film in my Pentax Auto 110 (I think there’s one in my Kiev 4, but that’s no pocket-size camera. Very inconvenient in a crowd, I find.), so I was very excited about that. It took me a pretty long time before my roll was completely full because of the awful weather.

So, what can you expect from Peacock X-pro 110? I hoped for high contrast, because I’m a fan of a lot of color in a picture. I usually picked colorful objects for my pictures, because grey walls are not suited for slide film. A thing that I find very suited for slide film is nature!

The colors of this slide film apparently are very modest in comparison to slide film from for example Agfa, but this is a thing I’m not (yet) really familiar with. But you can be sure that red and green are really RED and GREEN. Pinks turn to red, bright yellow turns into a peachy orange and skies become turquoise.

Somewhere I expected results like this, so I’m pretty satisfied with it. It’s nice and summery and these colors match my bright character as well! The only thing that went wrong was when my camera got stuck. Which is too bad, because I won’t soon see a bus full of boats again. The funny thing is that this same picture has turned into a double exposure, a thing my Pentax Auto 110 normally doesn’t do.

I’m really very happy with this slide film and I’m looking forward to shooting the next slide film! I hope I get to shoot a cornfield or a field full of sunflowers, because I think those will be really nice with Peacock X-pro 110. I think it’s really grainy now and again, so I don’t know if I would put it in my Fisheye Baby.

    LomoAmigo: Cat Stevens

London based photographer Cat Stevens uses the softer, more subtle aesthetics of film photography throughout her work. Her shoots consist of the familiar light leaks and washed out tones that most film shooters will be familiar with. She has photographed artists such as Deerhunter, PJ Harvey and recently took a series of sun drenched beach shots which adorned The Charlatans' last album cover titled "Modern Nature."
