Krab Underwater Housing

This handy housing lets you take your photo addiction to the pool for capturing special moments with your LC-A+ or LC-Wide cameras.

I received the Krab Underwater Housing as a gift a year or two ago for my LC-A+. I never used it for fear of getting my lovely LC-A+ wet despite the thick red housing and the black rubber seals. I imagined my camera shorting out and that being the end of my her. In spite promises from my wife that she would buy me a new camera if it shorted out, it sat in its box.

I was convinced otherwise finally when we took my daughter to the pool for the first time. I had to capture these moments. Not wanting to miss a thing, I decided to use the LC-Wide in the housing. From the design, you can not adjust the focus once in the Krab Underwater Housing. LC-Wide made a logical choice.

After loading in some 200 iso film, I set the distance to .9- ∞, making sure that the winding mechanism aligned with the notch in LC-Wide and locked the housing. Praying that it would not fail, I jumped in the water and got ready for CJ’s first dip in the pool.

The housing performed wonderfully. When the film roll was done, I dried the housing and set it aside. The camera was dry and I did not see any signs of leaks. It preformed wonderfully. There was some vignetting as there often is when the LC-Wide is used in the housing due to the lens picking up everything near. Some of the pictures were blurrier than I would have liked but that is my fault in not holding still enough.

Somehow we managed to not wind enough I thing and managed to get some doubles.

I really love this housing and want to use it more often, the undersea-view “up” is a lot of fun. I recommend it because I would not want to miss capturing memories as precious as these. I will be taking it to the beach soon I think. Don’t be afraid like I was to have some fun. Also…please wear sunscreen.
