Doubles With You: satomi and jeabzz

14

This is the story of the doubles with you project between satomi and jeabzz.

When Satomi and I, jeabzz decided to do doubles, we wanted to start with a roll for each other. The first roll was a random double, and I began to shoot in Paris and then Satomi shot in L.A.

For the second roll, we wanted to try something different. As I was a fan of Satomi’s macro shots, I asked her to shoot only macro shots for the second roll and then I’ll shoot regular shots. Then she had another idea which was: both of us will shoot macro and regular shots on different frames. I found the idea excellent (except the fact that I’m not really good with macro shots…:))

So this is how we proceeded.

Satomi took macro shots from frame 1 to 21 and then regular shots from frame 22 to 36.
And then I took regular shots from frame 1 to 10 and macros shots from 11 to 36.
So we finally had 10 shots in regular vs macro, then 10 in macro vs macro, and 14 in macro vs regular. (ok is this still clear to you?)

Have a look at the gallery (with shots from both collaborations) and I hope you’ll enjoy this!

Satomi says: When Jeabzz suggested to do macro doubles, I first said NO!
My macro shots have been coming out really bad lately, so I didn’t want to ruin our doubles….but jeabzz did NOT take “no” for an answer!!! I think I might have said no for the second time, but gave up afterwords. LOL! As I expected, my macro shots came out very blurry, but to my surprise, the blurriness and the color of the macro shots added something magical to the images and we had such unexpected results in our hands!

So, I must thank jeabzz for being persistent after all! :D Enjoy!!

Jonathon Keats to Unveil the Millennium Camera at the Arizona State University Art Museum

You might remember experimental philosopher Jonathon Keats for the CenturyCamera, his ambitious project which involved installation of 100 ultra-long-exposure cameras in and around Berlin, Germany "to continuously document 100 years of municipal growth and decay for scrutiny and judgment by future generations" between 2014 and 2114. But today, Keats goes a step further and begins yet another groundbreaking and unprecedented project with the Millennium Camera.

Spinner 360: Pull the Cord and Let the Magic Happen!

The story between the Spinner 360 and I goes way back to the year 2010, when Lomography decided to send me a beta model of the Spinner 360 to test. It was a complete surprise! I thought, "What the hell is that?" as I first took this camera out of the package. Then, when my little brother grabbed it from me and pulled the cord, it buzzed and turned 360°! We all had the same expression: "Whoa..."

A Salute to the Masters: R.I.P. (A Tribute to George Krause)

This article is dedicated to the multifaceted American photographer George Krause and to his series depicting funeral monuments realized between 1962 and 1963. I was able to know about this series thanks to an important essay on photography written by former Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Director of Photography, John Szarkowski. For this tribute, I loaded my trusty Praktica camera with a roll of Ilford film and took a series of photos in the Monumental Cemetery in my city, Como. Take a look!

Photo Stories: Away With You by lomomowlem

It is clear from the wild variety of photos in the website that Lomographers will do just about anything to get a good shot. Some swap rolls with friends overseas while others concoct unheard-of film soups. And then there are the masters of operations, the ones who spy and crouch their way to a share-worthy picture. This is one such story.
