Take a look at our fantastic workshops and events for July. We have a new exhibition from photographer Richard Heeps and we welcome back our highly successful Summer School of Lomography. Check out details here, it's going to be a blast!
First Thursdays July 4th from 6-9pm – Richard Heeps @==EAST==
July 4th – 26th
Lomography UK’s July exhibition will feature work from analogue photographer, Richard Heeps. In his Man’s Ruin collection, Heeps explores retro Americana imagery in vibrant, immediate photos. Working largely with rare, end-of-line films, Heeps travelled the US, capturing this collection on his Mamiya RB67 and Nikon FM2 cameras. Rekorderlig will be supplying the drinks so do come down and enjoy the evening with us.
Join us for the private view of this exhibition on July 4th as part of the First Thursdays event run by the Whitechapel Gallery. The exhibition runs from 4nd-26th July. All welcome but please send your RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Summer School of Lomography
Calling all students! Brush up on your film knowledge and practice your new found skills on some of the cameras in our range. Whether you want to join just one class or sit through the whole term, you can bet you’ll come away with a degree in analogue photography!
Saturday 13th July from 2pm @ SOHO– Lesson 1: Plastics
Come meet and test a plastic camera of your choice. In this session you will learn about some of the plastic cameras we have in our range and you’ll get to pick one to test drive for a week. Be it the DianaF+ or Diana Mini, the La Sardina, the fisheye camera or one of the samplers; you’ll be sure to expand your knowledge of these fun and crafty cameras. Lessons on several techniques, such as how to make effective multiple exposures and how to shoot at night, are also included in the lesson for the day.
Saturday 20th July from 2pm @ EAST– Lesson 2: Panoramics
Have a go on both of our awesome panoramic cameras – the Sprocket Rocket and the 360Spinner! You’ll learn all the tricks of the trade when it comes to shooting these wide lensed beasts and you’ll get to practice on them both for a whole week. Practice makes perfect!
Saturday 27th July from 2pm @ SOHO– Lesson 3: Premiums
Graduate from the plastics and panoramics and play with the big boys – the premiums! Meet and mingle with the LC-A+, LC-Wide or Lubitel 166+ cameras. You’ll learn how to manipulate these fair glass lensed beauts. Nothing quite spells analogue like these cameras. You can test your skills on them and learn to shoot like the pros.
Tickets are £18 per lesson or £45 for the whole run of 3 lessons. Each lesson includes lend-a-camera for a week, a roll of film and film processing (developing+CD+prints) PLUS a voucher for 10% off a one-time purchase of anything in-store on the day. Each student who joins for the whole term will receive a school starter pack filled with analogue treats to inspire you on your quest to expand your camera knowledge.
Sunday 3rd AUGUST from 10am @ EAST – School excursion: Lomowalk to Columbia Flower Market
This walk is open to all the students who have joined the past lessons and who want to mix and mingle and show off their new found skills. There isn’t a better place to do that than in one of London’s most bustling Sunday markets. We’ll meet in store and all head over by bus to join the crowds in admiring the flowers and vintage wares, capturing everything on film.
This walk is free for anyone who has joined our summer school or £10 for those who just want to join in at the last minute. It includes lend-a-camera (for those who wish), a roll of film and discounts on film processing.
