Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma

All the contemporary art lovers will fall in love with this one. No doubt!

Kiasma is a museum of contemporary art, located in the heart of Helsinki. You can get there simply by walking or just take a tram and hop off at Lasipalatsi.

The exhibitions always deal with current issues and they often give people something to talk about. Even the building itself is worth of visiting; it’s almost begging you to photograph its beauty. The American architect Steven Holl designs it. The walls are white and nicely curved so they create interesting figures, playing with lights and shadows. There’s a lot of natural light inside the museum, floating in from numerous windows. The floor is made of black concrete. Near the main entrance, there’s a statue of Marshal Mannerheim, deceased Finnish statesman, surrounded by skateboarders. Kiasma was opened in 1998.

I’ve visited Kiasma at least a hundred times and I just can’t get enough of it. It is definitely my favorite museum ever! I always take my LC-A with me, and every time I find something interesting, something worth of shooting. Everyone who visits Helsinki should visit Kiasma also. And the best part is that the Kiasma shop sells Lomographic products! :-) _
