The LC-A Krab - Your LC-A and LC-Wide's Bathing Suit

1

Summer’s here! Which means seaside madness and fun water fights! If you’re a proud owner of a LC-A or LC-Wide, you’ll surely want to bring it along to capture your most splashy moments! So put on its bathing suit and let it safely capture the view with the LC-A Krab!

The LC-A Krab is one of the must have accessories for your LC-A or LC-Wide. Whether you want to take your camera at the water park, on your seaside vacation, on the slopes, or just to take some pictures in the rain, the LC-A Krab is the way to go. It will protect your prized LC-A or LC-Wide so you won’t have to worry about a thing.

The LC-A Krab is a reproduction of a Russian prototype underwater housing for the Lomo Kompact Automat camera of the 1980s. Back then, it was crafted in solid metal, but now it has an acrylic faceplate, improved seals and a deeper effective depth. With the LC-A Krab, you get easy access to the shutter and advance controls, and you can take your camera up to 20m (65 feet) beneath the water’s surface.

The LC-A Krab comes along with a hand strap so you won’t lose your camera if you’re shooting in giant waves for example, a small bottle with lubricant gel used to better seal your Krab, a spare rubber O-Ring, and a plastic O-Ring remover.

So, how do you use your Krab?

Set your LC-A or LC-Wide’s focus (choose your focus distance wisely, as you won’t be able to change this setting while your camera is inside the case), put it inside the Krab, put some gel on the rubber O-Ring located on the door of the Krab, close the Krab and you’re ready to go.

After you’ve finished shooting, take your camera out, and thoroughly clean your Krab with water!

Tips:

  • Use your camera with 200 or 400 ISO film when shooting underwater
  • Use Lomography X-Pro Chrome 100 ISO film for great colors and sharpness
  • Don’t clean your Krab with chemicals; use only tap water
  • Before use, be sure that the front of the Krab is clean so that your photos stay extra sharp. If not wipe it with a soft cloth.
  • Keep your Krab in the box it came with when you’re not using it! When you’re at the beach keep it wrapped in a clean and soft towel.

All in all, the LC-A Krab is one of the best companions of your LC-A or LC-Wide, a must have if you love water, sea or snow!
