If you are looking for a not so expensive colour C41 film for this summer's sunny days, and you want to get vivid tones together with a nice feeling of plasticity from your camera with plastic lenses, try the Lomography CN 100! You will not regret it at all!
On a beautiful warm and sunny day in early June, I left home by bicycle to go swimming in the company of some friends. For the occasion, I took with me my underwater camera Aqua Pix 35, together with an 800 ISO film roll (to be used under water). In a small bag attached to the handlebar of the bicycle, I always carry with me a roll Lomography CN100. As you can see, this roll was very useful in this day! Because when I crossed the public park of my city, I found a public demonstration of beach rugby!
I extracted the camera from its waterproof shell and I loaded it with this film! Although the machine is not sharp for photos taken outside the water, the overall effect is quite pleasant, with a blurring at the edges similar to the dreamy effect that I can obtain with my Diana and Diana Mini cameras!
This camera has a shutter speed of 1/100s and an aperture of F9, so in a bright sunny day like this, the film was overexposed of at least one stop. This allowed me to avoid underexposed photos, and as you can see, the slight overexposure has made the colours more natural and pleasant!
The plastic lenses tend to reduce the image contrast as opposed to the glass lenses; but this film has allowed me to obtain a nice series of photos with right brightness and contrast.
The primary colours, red, yellow and green are very natural and pleasant, and there is a prevalence of warm tones that I always like. This film has a fine grain, almost invisible.
The colour of the water of “my” lake is very natural
If you need a not so expensive film for your toy cameras, try it!
