Midweek Music Video: Mr. Brightside by The Killers

The music video for The Killers’ debut single takes us to the Burlesque era.

Mr. Brightside, the debut single of Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers, include in their album Hot Fuss is catchy, frantic, and riveting on its own. It is one of those songs that pumps enough adrenaline to make me tap my fingers or pound my fist in a rhythmic manner, stomp my feet and bob my head in syncopated movement and scream the song’s chorus in careless abandon. The Grammy-nominated single was a huge hit, and sold over 3 million copies.

The music video for Mr. Brightside, on the other hand, plays with the concept of 19th century Burlesque theater. The ladies are in period costumes and make-up, and their actions spell risqué. The Killers’ vocalist Brandon Flowers, Polish actress Izabella Miko, and American actor Eric Roberts are part of a love triangle. Miko portrays one of the Burlesque performers, Roberts is her jealous lover, and Flowers is the guy he sees in secret.
