Check out these shoes and tell us you're not smitten with Charlotte Olympia's "Hollywoodland" Collection! The British designer's Pre-Fall 2013 accessories were inspired by the glitz and glamour of old school film-making and we're absolutely head over heels over these emulsion-based fashions!
Appropriately called “Girls on Film,” these satin-and-PVC platform heels by Charlotte Olympia are on my wishlist. As a lover of both fashion and film, these negative shoes are my cinematic dreams come true—too bad I don’t have $995 to spare.
Available in black and sepia, other chaussures in Olympia’s new season are the film reel-inspired “Premiere” and “Take 110” which we’re sure any feminine film fiend would love to have in their closet, or even camera shelf!
As if lusting over analogue kicks weren’t enough, Olympia has also cleverly designed Perspex purses too look like vintage clapperboards and celluloid strips! And she doesn’t stop there. She’s also come up with a way to wear negatives on your head via a fashionable fascinator. With these outfit embellishments in tow, you’re sure to look good in the limelight!
Fellow Brit and fearlessly fashionable actress Jaime Winstone wowed in a dress made completely out of film, created by Aminaka Wilmon.
The emulsion-wearing star said “It’s amazing that they’ve managed to turn a film reel into such a beautiful creation and wearing it was the perfect way to support the new filmmaking talent being celebrated by Virgin Media Shorts.”
Even Jean Paul Gautier once designed an analogue outfit made entirely out of negatives and even used developing reels and scopes to accessorize! If fashion has taught us anything, it’s that film is definitely not dead.
