Hello there! I’d like to show you all what it is that Occupational Therapists (OTs) do on a daily basis.
Some of you might be wondering what an OT is and what we do. Most people are familiar with Physical Therapists or Speech Therapists in hospitals or clinics. I’m not gonna bore you with the specifics, so I’ll just describe what we do in the least technical way I can.
I think the Chinese proverb “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” pretty much sums up what we do. We teach people with disabilities or conditions, such as those who suffered a stroke or who have medical conditions like autism or ADHD ways or strategies to be independent in all areas of their lives. Activities that we take for granted such as dressing, eating, or even going to the toilet is a big challenge for handicapped people – and we as OTs are here to help.
I work mainly with geriatrics and pediatrics in my workplace. Whether it’s teaching my adult patient to relearn how to wear his shirt or write his name to teaching my cute pediatric patients to make friends or perform better at school, I’m very glad to have made a difference in their lives.
We've been working all summer on a film swap with Lomography Peru and we want you to join us on Thursday September 25, from 7 to 10 pm at Strange Beauty Show for our gallery opening! It's going to be a great time and we hope to see you there!
For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.
Vodafone Fashion Weekend in London is the must-go-to event for all fashion lovers in September. There are fashion shows on the catwalk, talks with industry professionals, shopping (anything from bags to clothes to necklaces), and, if you so wish, you can even get your hair done at a very low price on the day. It's the complete TLC package in one event.
Really want to bring your film photos to life? We’re now offering totally analogue fine art prints in a host of large sizes and formats! Carefully enlarged from your negatives onto premium photographic paper by lab professionals, each picture is a unique piece of craftsmanship.
What are your weekends like? Do you usually go on a date? Or perhaps you hang out with your family? Is playing video games on top of your weekend activities? I used to do those things. But it all changed since I met film photography. Find out more after the jump!
There are small pleasures and big pleasures. A small one, like eating a chocolate after lunch, the first day of summer after a cold spring or finally meeting that girl you see every day on your morning commute can be more satisfying than anything else. As for me, shooting live music shows with the Petzval Lens is one of those small pleasures.
It looks like it’s time to get out the cameras and pack your bags. Together with the Shift School Dresden, we offered amazing prizes, including an insider trip to Paris, where you can take part in photography courses and visit the world-famous Paris Photo Tradeshow. Of course, there’s also a ton of Lomography prizes at stake like cameras, accessories and film so that the winner can capture memories from the trip on film. And now to announce the winners!
