When it comes to Marilyn Monroe and "The Seven Year Itch," the first image that comes to mind is the actress' famous skirt scene. Well, here's another way to look at the iconic actress in this classic comedy film!
Give anyone a blob of Play-Doh and you can be sure that he or she, whether a kid or an adult, would be able to transform it into something else - say, an animal figure or a type of food. In Eleanor Macnair's case, however, she makes one of the most excellent renderings of Play-Doh we've seen so far by using them to remake photographs!
Whether you have an 8x10 camera lying around that you're raring to shoot with, or just want to know the process of taking photos with it, this 15-minute clip by photographer Tim Layton is a must watch.
It was her sweetheart who encouraged her to pursue taking photographs using film cameras. After her first try at using a Fisheye No. 2, she got immediately hooked! Let's all welcome Elaidia Oliveros, or simply elaidia in our Community, our Newcomer of the Week!
I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. I love how the camera naturally encourages you to experiment with its different features, whether it’s through flashing your multiple exposures with different colors or trying different creative techniques after your shots has been ejected. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!
The air playfully blowing her red hair, her bright smile, the accidental light leaks - everything in this portrait is just so perfect we have to declare it as our Photo of the Day! Congratulations andrejrusskovskij!
Probably each one of you has been annoyed with failed film. This is particularly annoying when you get the developed film back from the lab, but you get blanks because the film was not exposed. It's either the film transport didn't work, or you have not taken the lens cap off, etc. Read on and I'll show you an alternative to just throwing away the film: Simply use it as a color filter for your camera, with the La Sardina for example.
Halloween is just a little over week away, and if you're on the lookout for a kickin' old-school costume for that party you're throwing (or attending, or if you simply want to dress up to mark the occasion!), you might want to consider these worn by merry Halloween revelers from the '70s.
Poepel's shots are so impressive that it's never a surprise to see at least a few of them every week in the best-of section. You simply cannot miss his photos. And so, without further ado, allow us to introduce Mario, better known as poepel, a new member of our community squad of LomoAmigos!
