We had an action packed day on Friday, April 12th which was FILM PHOTOGRAPHY DAY! Lomography Chicago celebrated by having a workshop about different kinds of films and then we partied our analog hearts out!
We started celebrating Film Photography Day with a workshop on the different films and the different aesthetics that they produce at our Lomography Chicago Gallery Store in Wicker Park. The workshop was a hit! We saw examples of the variety of effects that various films produce as well as learned about the different processes you can use to achieve fun results, the analog way!
After the slideshow, we headed out, cameras in hand on a photowalk / field trip to the Chicago Community Darkroom. The lovely staff there showed us how to develop and print our own black and white film. We had a blast in the darkroom before heading back to the store for the Film Photography Day P A R T Y!
The party was a hit! We had an awesome photobooth made with strips of film that we got crazy with. We listened to our favorite tunes, drank some adult beverages, and celebrated film photography!

It was the Amazon which I had longed for my whole life. And when it was finally a set deal that I will travel to Brazil with two of my best friends for the Copa do Mundo (World Cup), we really had to start our adventure in the Amazon. I had known about this magical place deep in the rainforest. There was a lodge run by local people of indigenous background, with wooden houses that float on the water and a limited number of visitors. It was eco-tourism as how it should be. To preserve and to celebrate one of the most impressive locations I have seen so far.
"You put your camera around your neck in the morning along with putting on your shoes, and there it is, an appendage of the body that shares your life with you," said Dorothea Lange, the icon whose birthdate we celebrate today, May 26.
